연희동과 골목길(Yeonhui-dong and alleys)

연희동은 서울에서도 유독 골목길이 많은 동네이다. 머랭은 좁은 골목길 끝 막다른 길에 위치하고 있다.

 

Yeonhui-dong has a lot of alleys in Seoul. The site is located at the end of a narrow alley.

둥글둥글한 파사드(Round facade)

좁은 골목길에서 존재감을 드러낼 수 있는 가장 좋은 방법은 무엇일까? 그것은 바로 노출 표면적을 넓히는 것이다. 표면적을 넓히기 위해 머랭의 파사드는 둥글둥글한 넓은 표면적을 갖게 되었다.

 

What is the best way to reveal presence in a narrow alley? This is to expand the surface area and the best way to expand the surface area is curve.

곡면과 모자이크 타일(Curve surface and mosaic tile)

머랭의 외부 마감재로 선정된 모자이크 타일은 아이코트 료와(ICOT RYOWA) 의 Ancent 501 세로 패턴이다. 외부 마감재 선정에 대한 고민이 많았는데, 다음과 같은 두 조건을 기준으로 선정했다.

 

· 표면에 방수 성능을 가질 것.

· 곡면 볼륨을 잘 표현할 수 있을 것.

 

위 모자이크 타일은 가로×세로(30cm×30cm)의 메쉬망에 부착되어 있다. 이는 곡면을 따라 타일이 시공될 시 우수한 시공성을 가지고 있다.

 

There are many concern about extenal finishing materials, we selected the materials under two conditions.

 

· To have waterproof

· To express the volume of the curve surface.

 

A plate of mosaic tile is 30cm by 30cm and attached to mesh net. This suggests that mosaic tile can be placed along the curve surface.

 

노출콘크리트(Raw concrete)

머랭의 저층부는 별도의 마감재를 사용하지 않고 노출콘크리트로 계획되었다. 골조 그대로의 날 것은 언제 봐도 참 좋다.

 

The low floor of Meringue is planned with raw concrete without other finishing materials.

블루 앤 화이트(Blue and white)

공용부의 전체적인 인테리어 색감은 블루 앤 화이트 톤으로 계획되었다. 외부에 사용되었던 타일이 내부에도 연장되어 사용되었으며, 시원한 느낌을 주기 위해 파란색 페인트를 조합했다.

 

The interior color of the public space was planned in blue and white scheme. The mosaic tile used outside extended to inside, and blue paint was combined to give cool atmosphere.

동그란 창(Round window)

머랭의 다락에는 동그란 모양의 창이 있다. 이는 내부 공간을 부드럽게 만들기 위한 장치이다. 목재로 마감된 내부 인테리어도 내부의 선을 부드럽게 만드는 역할을 한다.

 

The round window of Meringue is a device to soften the inner space. Also wood finishing materials make the line of inside softer.
